Hello DSG Families,

We are looking forward to kicking off our season with our home meet! I am sending the competition guidelines for parents to review ahead of the season. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, please remember to check the team site: https://dsgbounders.com/ for calendar updates and an archive of email updates.

Thank you,

Adrie Garcia

Competition Guidelines HAIR has to be pulled back completely out of the face.  Use hairspray and a lot of clips to keep hair secured.  If your daughter has long hair it needs to be in a bun or braided.  No long bangs- make sure they are clipped backEARRINGS/Jewelry: 1 small stud earring in each ear is allowed, no hoops or dangly earrings. Gymnasts are also not allowed to wear bracelets, necklaces, watches, or anything around their wrists or ankles unless it is a medical device. COMPETITION LEOS/ SWEATS:Competition leos have to be worn to every meet and are for meets ONLY.  Do not wear competition leos to practice. Sweats are required at meets. The gymnasts sometime warm up in their sweats and will receive awards at the podium in their team sweats.  ON-TIME-Each gymnast needs to be at the facility 15 minutes before the start time, as stated on the schedule.  If Warm-up is at 1:00 pm, please be there at 12:45 pm.  This is extremely important!  Please plan on getting your child to each meet on-time.PARENTS are at NO TIME allowed on the competition floor.  This is USAG policy.  If, for some reason, your child gets injured, let the coaches assess the situation. Every member (coaches, judges), of USAG is safety certified and CPR/first aid certified.  Someone will come get you if it is necessary.  If you have questions about scoring or anything else please wait until the meet is completed.STAY UNTIL MEET IS COMPLETE: All gymnasts are required to stay the entire meet (this includes all of the awards ceremony).  If you have something else planned the coach needs to know in advance.  It is important for gymnasts to represent DSG, to receive their own awards and to support their teammates who receive awardsDRINKS: Gymnasts are allowed to bring small bottles of water (only).  Colored drinks (Gatorade and other colored sports drinks) are not recommended on competition floors.  Also, the gymnasts can bring healthy snacks to keep in their bags.  Candy, chips and foods containing sugar are not recommendedCAMERAS/VIDEO CAMERAS:USAG policies state that flashes/lights on cameras and video cameras are not allowed.  This is for the safety of the gymnasts.  Please make sure you turn the light/flash off before competition beginsSLEEPOVERS: We know the girls love to have sleepovers.  For some reason they are popular the night before a meet.  This is strongly discouraged.  The girls stay up too late and are tired the day of the meet. Please avoid sleepovers before a meetCRYING: A big part of youth sports is learning to take things in stride, and to learn how to manage our emotions when things don't go as planned. We know emotions can run high, as we work with the kids to avoid lots of tears or meltdowns at meets. When emotions run high, we support the athlete and encourage them to take a moment to clear their mind so they can complete the remaining events safely and finish strong. If they are injured that is clearly a different situation and will be addressed accordingly. Thank you and we look forward to a great season!
